Canopy Tower
Transfer from the airport to Puerto Maldando Headquarters (10 minutes) Enjoy your first tast of the Rainforest and gardens whilst packing your duffel bag with only the necessary gear for the next few days (duffel bag is provided) The rest of your belongings will remain at Puerto Maldonado headquarters
Drive 20kms to Tambopata River Port
Travel by jungle boat to Posada Amazonas to the Community's Primary Forest Private Reserve

Welcome Meeting with Lodge Manager
Canopy Tower
A 20 minute walk from Posada Amazonas to Canopy Tower (30 metres tall) Climb the circular staircase to the top of the tower for spectacular views of the vast expanses of forest with the beautiful Tambopata River winding through the trees. See Toucans, parrots and macaws flying against the horizon and experience tropical birds landing on the branch next to you!!

Posadas Amazonas
Breakfast
Tres Chimbadas Oxbow Lake
Hike 45 minutes from Posadas Amazonas, then travel by boat to Tres Chimbadas. Take a boat tour around the lake where the resident family of giant otters live. They are most active between dawn to 8.00am/9.00am
See other lakeside wildlife such as caiman, hoatzin and horned screamers
Parrot Clay Lick
A 20 minute walk from Posadas Amazonas. See the amazing sight of dozens of parrots and parkeets descending to ingest the clay on the river bank! Tropical birds including Mealy, Yeloow-Headed Amazo, Blue- Headed Parrot and Dusky-Headed Parrakeet all come to to clay lick early/late morning

Travel 20 minutes downriver to a trail designed by the staff of the Centro Nape. The trail explains the different medicinal (and other) uses of the plants. The Centro Nape is a communal organisation that produces medicines from the forest plants and administers them to patients who attend their small clinic.

Night Walk
You will have the option of hiking at night, when most of the animals are active but rarely see. See the plentiful beautiful bright green frogs of all different shapes and sizes.
